Do I Need An LLC To Start A Credit Repair Business?

Written by Daniel Rosen | January 12, 2021

I built Credit Repair Cloud from nothing, with nothing, and knowing nothing about software or how to run a business!

I didn’t do it on credit.

I don’t have wealthy parents.

And I didn’t really have any support.

In fact at the time, I was in show business and everybody thought I was nuts. It was HARD.

But I know how to do hard, I mean, I left home at 13 and juggled on street corners to make money just so I could eat!

When I started it was because a bank error nearly ruined my life, and after figuring out how to solve it, I wanted to make it easy for other people to be able to solve their credit issues too and then start a business helping others solve their credit issues!

But when I started it was by bootstrapping and living on a shoestring/top ramen budget.

I learned how to save money and build a business one dollar at a time, and if I can do it, you can too!

Now I imagine money’s tight for you too, so today I’m going to show you the least expensive way to legally launch your business.

Starting a business doesn’t have to be expensive!

You can start as a sole proprietor which costs nothing — or you can be an LLC or a corporation, which will cost you money.

It’s all up to you!

But if you’re just starting, I recommend you save money and get an LLC later when you’re making enough money to need tax benefits.

The way you do this is start as a Sole Proprietorship. This is super simple and totally free. The only requirement is to have your full name in the business name.

So if my business is The Green Gardener lawn mowing services, then I have to file a DBA.

But if I call my business Daniel Rosen Lawn Mowing, then it doesn’t cost me ANYTHING and in most states you can start a sole proprietorship without even registering with the State.

Now, each state may be different, so check with your state by doing a simple Google search.

Let’s say you’re listening to me, you’ve already started your business but haven’t chosen a legal structure yet and you named it something different than your own.

That’s okay!

Like I said earlier, if you want to still file as a Sole Proprietor until you start making enough money to need tax breaks, just file for a DBA with your county.

Here in LA county that costs about $30 - so it really doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated!

Super simple, right?

In the end:

  • Don’t spend money you haven’t made.
  • Don’t make launching your business more complicated than it needs to be!
  • And don’t cause more work for yourself than necessary!
